Hi, I’m Billie Jo, the maker behind Jointed Angel. I design and sew handmade clothing and accessories for ball-jointed dolls, inspired by a lifelong love of dolls, a grandmother who crafted porcelain dolls for nearly four decades, and a passion for helping collectors bring their dolls to life. From tiny furniture to adorable clothing, every item is a testament to my passion for doll craftsmanship.
A bit about me
My love of dolls started very early in life. As an only child at home, dolls were more than toys—they were companions, characters, and tiny worlds I could build stories around.
When I was in my early teens, my grandma began crafting porcelain dolls and running her own doll business. She continued creating them for 37 years. Watching her sculpt, dress, and care for those dolls made a lasting impression on me. Dolls were never something to “grow out of” in our family—they were art, creativity, and storytelling.
Years later, in 2011, a coworker introduced me to Ball Jointed Dolls when she began bringing hers to the office. I was instantly fascinated. What started as curiosity quickly turned into designing outfits for them, and soon I had my own dolls to sew for. Like many collectors, I told myself I would only have one… maybe one in each size. That plan didn’t last long.
Jointed Angel grew out of that same sense of wonder I had as a kid—combined with a love of crafting tiny details and clothing that helps bring a doll’s personality to life.
I’m also a neurodivergent and disabled maker living with chronic pain and fatigue. Creating isn’t always easy, but it’s deeply meaningful to me. Sewing, designing, and building pieces for dolls allows me to focus on beauty, imagination, and connection within the doll community.

I design my pieces with attention to tiny details, thoughtful materials, and styles that help dolls feel like individuals. Whether it’s a simple everyday outfit or something a little more special, my goal is to create pieces that collectors enjoy styling and returning to again and again.
Living with chronic pain and fatigue means my creative pace sometimes looks a little different, but it also means every item is made slowly and intentionally. Each piece carries a bit of that care and patience with it.
Jointed Angel exists because of a lifelong love of dolls, a legacy of handmade artistry passed down from my grandmother, and a wonderful community of collectors who continue to inspire me every day.
